My Way Chords & Lyrics

[Intro]
| D | D |

[Verse 1 (A)]
       D                       F#m/C#
And now, the end is near
               Am6/C          B7
And so I face the final curtain,
      Em                   Em/D
My friend. I'll say it clear
                 A7/C#  A7                             D
I'll state my                case of which I'm certain.
       D  F#m/C#              Am6/C Adim7/C
I've lived       a life that's full
                G                       Gm6
I traveled each and every highway,
       D                                    Asus4   A     G      D
And more, much more than this,        I did it my way.

[Verse 2 (A)]
      D                       F#m/C#
Regrets, I've had a few
               Am6/C                B7
But then again, too few to mention.
  Em                     Em/D
I did what I had to do
                  A7/C#   A7 D
And saw it thru       without exemption.
   D  F#m/C#                 Am6/C    Adim7/C
I planned each charted course
                     G                       Gm6
Each careful step along the byway,
        D                                   Asus4   A       G     D
And more, much more than this,         I did it my way.

[Verse 3 (B)]
                         D      F#m/C#              Am6/C   Adim7/C
Yes there were times,      I'm sure you knew,
            G                                    Gmaj7
When I bit off more than I could chew
                 Em7                        A7
But thru it all, when there was doubt
           F#m7             Bm7
I ate it up, and spit it out.
               Em7                 A7              G6    D
I faced it all, and I stood tall, and did it my way.

[Verse 4 (A)]
      D                                    F#m/C#
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
                   Am6/C               B7
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
       Em                       Em/D           A7/C# A7   D
And now, as tears subside, I find it all          so amusing.
       D   F#m/C#   Am6/C   Adim7/C
To think    I did all that
                  G                  Gm6
And may I say - not in a shy way,
      D                   Asus4   A         G   D
Oh no, oh no not me,        I did it my way

[Verse 5 (B)]
                      D      F#m/C#       Am6/C   Adim7/C
For what is a man, what has he got?
               G                        Gmaj7
If not himself, then he has naught
                 Em7                 A7
To say the things he truly feels
                    F#m7                   Bm7
And not the words of one who kneels
                   Em7                   A7
The record shows I took the blows
                   G6  D
And did it     my way!

[Outro]
C#+ Am6/C Adim7/C G Gm6

D  F#m/C#  Bm7  A              G6  D
                             Yes it was my way

My Way Piano Tips
1. Take It Slow: It's counterintuitive, but the quickest way to get comfortable and sound great playing a song is to practice it very slowly at first. Steady rhythm and counting are crucial to sounding like a pro, so let yourself get used to feeling the beat at a slow, easy tempo. Once you can nail "My Way" slowly, *gradually* speed it up. You'll sound much better than if you jumped in at full speed!

2. Use The Pedal Wisely: Utilize the sustain pedal to connect the chords smoothly, timing your lifts with the arrival of a new chord. For help with sustain pedal timing, check out this video.

3. Simplify if need be: "My Way" still sounds great even if you simply hold out the chords and ignore most of the rhythm patterns and extra details in the tutorial video. Feel free to keep it simple, especially if you sing while playing. As you get comfortable, you can always add the fancy stuff later.
